Impact outdoors

Want impact from outdoor advertising?

It might seem to be stating the obvious but make sure you get your placement right. Ensure your message is appearing where your audience really is.

And get your message right. Think about what you want to say and what your audience wants to see. When we write slogans and outdoor messages we write, re-write, polish, tighten the message and tighten again.

Since most outdoor advertising is seen at a glance the message needs to be short, simple and compelling. If you get too clever or abstract there’s a risk your message will get missed.

Same with design. What might work well in a magazine ad will often flop in the outdoors.

Since most outdoor advertising is viewed from a distance and just glanced at, design needs to be uncomplicated and striking.

Avoid too much text and graphical details, small or fine type, and messy or cluttered images.

Bright Light Design was recently commissioned to produce two roadside billboards for an electronic tag supplier for tollroads. We chose bold and striking colours, very large, easy-to-read text and clear contact details for where viewers could find out more and apply online.

We illustrated motorbike and car cartoon characters for visual interest and to put into pictures what the text was saying.
