Websites that excel

When a multi-national electrical supplies company recently rebranded, its Australian division asked Bright Light to re-design its website to be in keeping with the new branding guidelines.

On the right you can see how we created a local presence for a global brand. We worked in with the client’s existing web development company, providing the design files to them.

Here are three ways to help ensure your website excels:

1. Have a dynamic element

Make your website more than a one hit wonder. Incorporate something fluid or changing that’ll make people want to revisit.

Some ideas: include promotions, news, special offers, access to exclusive information.

2. Keep it up to date

This flows on from the previous point but it’s vital. There’s nothing more off-putting than visiting a website that has a ‘coming soon’ note that was posted months or years ago – or a news section with ‘hot off the press’ stories or newsletters dated 2006. It says you’re not serious about keeping in touch with your audience. It suggests you’re sluggish and not with the times.

3. Make it user-friendly

This applies on two levels. The content and the way the content is broken up should be interesting and useful for visitors. Less is more. Keep it short and to the point.

But it’s not just a matter of having the information there. It needs to be easily accessible. Clever navigation including a great menu bar and other in-built buttons will ensure people get to what they want – fast.
